ASG discussed bus transportation in their meeting on Monday and are taking action. ASG’s suggested bill is looking to getting a new warehouse to station the buses and renting the buses from a different company. This will allow Texas State to get more buses with an entire different system.
The goal is to save Texas State money by storing the buses in a Texas State owned warehouse as well as improving the entire bus transportation issue for students.
ASG is also looking to get rid of the San Marcos/Austin tram route.
As a result of making these changes the bus fee included in tuition would increase by $90 a student.
Also, ASG is wanting to increase the on-campus parking pass prices by a substantial amount.
ASG member Quentin De La Garza believes that although tuition would increase, it is a necessary expense and will only improve Texas State.
“I think it’s a necessary evil. Its extremely important and I feel like the increase in tuition is worth it and we should do this for the good of the community and the Texas State body as a whole.”
- Quentin De La Garza
