Cadets at Detachment eight-four-zero are planning for their annual Dining Out Awards Banquet, or DOAB. The DOAB is a traditional military banquet that honors military members and celebrates accomplishments. It will include a formal dinner, speeches by special guests, and a presentation dedicated to soldiers who are missing in action.
Cadet Third Class James De Roulac says some traditions help to lighten the mood, like a combination of drinks known as the grog.
“If you’ve broken one of the rules of the mess, like getting there late or something like that, you have to go drink from the grog. It’s usually kind of nasty; it’s just a lot of stuff mixed together.”

The DOAB will be held on December first in the LBJ Ballroom at Texas State.
